Frequently asked

Answers to what users ask us most often.

Is a privacy policy legally required?
In most jurisdictions — including the EU (GDPR), UK (DPA 2018), California (CCPA / CPRA), India (DPDP 2023), and Canada (PIPEDA) — yes, if your site or app collects personal data (even an email address on a contact form). Platforms like Apple and Google also require a published privacy policy before they will list your app or accept payments.
What is the difference between Terms of Service and a Privacy Policy?
Terms of Service is a contract between you and your users covering acceptable use, account termination, liability, and dispute resolution. A Privacy Policy is a disclosure document explaining what personal data you collect, how you use it, who you share it with, and the rights users have over that data.
Do I need a Cookie Policy if I only use a session cookie?
Under GDPR and the UK PECR, any non-strictly-necessary cookie requires a policy and consent. Strictly-necessary session cookies used only for login or cart state generally do not require consent, but clear disclosure is still best practice. When in doubt, publish a Cookie Policy.
Does this replace a lawyer?
No. Our generator produces an AI-drafted starting point trained on common clauses and jurisdictional conventions. You should always have a qualified attorney review the final policies before publishing, especially if you process sensitive data, serve minors, or operate in regulated industries.
Is this GDPR / DPDP / CCPA compliant?
The generator produces drafts that include the structural clauses each regulation expects — lawful basis, data subject rights, data retention, transfer mechanisms, etc. Actual compliance depends on how your product behaves in practice. Treat the output as a checklist plus draft language, not a certificate of compliance.
Can I use these policies commercially?
Yes. You own the output. Use it on any number of sites, apps, or client projects. We do not retain, log, or reuse the data you submit.
How often should I update my policy?
Review your policies at least once a year and whenever you add a new data processor (new analytics tool, new payment gateway), expand into a new region, or materially change your data practices. Regenerate here, diff against your last version, and publish.
Do you store the data I enter?
No. Form inputs are sent to our server only for the single request that generates your policies. We do not log the input body, do not store the generated documents, and do not set cookies on this page.
